Improve your mind, body and spirit.

I'm old enough to have lived through the United States Bicentennial (though I was a little girl at the time). For whatever reason, I was particularly enamored with all the fanfare and declared to everyone that I would live to see the Tricentennial. Not an impossible feat; people do live into their hundreds. But, what I didn't plan for was getting breast cancer—and that now I'll be lucky if I make it to 60.

The shift in roles when sending a child away to college is as scary and significant as the change in roles when you become a new parent. You've spent years actively protecting, teaching and directing the daily life of your child—you were in charge and responsible. Now, your role and responsibilities are completely changing.

When you think about life enrichment in an assisted living community, activities like bingo, crafts and card games may come to mind. While these activities are certainly well-loved, there is much more that goes into it. Life enrichment is all about improving the quality of life for residents through various activities that are fun but also provide important therapeutic benefits.

One of the first things Patrick Frakes, COO of Rair Cannabis, says to me is, "If you've been to other grows before, you're going to notice that we do things a bit differently. Rair is our name for a reason."

My journey has been one of frustration, disappointment and heartbreak. I can only speak of my personal experiences in dealing with the healthcare system, but I have found that the treatment of the Black community and people of color is very different from that of the white community.
