The Downtown Holland Principal Shopping District is pleased to announce that it is the recipient of a $4,000 grant from the State of Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs and the Holland Area Arts Council. The grant will support the 2013 Street Performer Series, a weekly program featuring performing artists and groups from all backgrounds who perform free for the public throughout downtown Holland.

Last year, two thousand area citizens tipped off Silent Observer, helping solve 112 crimes and removing 125 criminals from our streets. The Silent Observer Fast 50 Program, active in sixty-five middle and high schools, allowed tipsters to identify eighty-six students in violation of conduct codes by possessing drugs, weapons, or alcohol at school. These programs help keep our neighborhoods, businesses, and schools more safe and secure, making the Grand Rapids area a better place to live, play, and do business.
