I was never a fan of the cocktail party-variety networking scene. I will never be one to dart around a room shoving business cards into people’s hands. I prefer meaningful conversations with people, getting to know them and vice versa. But social media networking? That’s something different altogether. Done right, it’s never a hit-and-run. Rather, it consists of building relationships over months and even years by sharing information—both professional and personal—through posts, comments, and responding to questions in various online communities.

There is one thing in life that is constant: change. In the workplace, you can be sure that at some point you will experience change and transition. As employees are promoted and new policies are implemented, it's important to have the ability to navigate changes to prevent a decline in morale and lack of productivity.  

Is something not right in your life? Maybe you are not happy at work or at home? Is there a little voice in your mind, telling you that you need to do something else?  

Wouldn’t it just be easier if we all had three heads and an extra set of arms and legs? Sometimes it’s just easier to say yes to working overtime, being the “Room Parent” at your child’s school, leading the nursery at church, and hosting Christmas dinner for your entire family. You can do it, right? You’re Superwoman!  

For many working mothers, the illusion of work-life balance always seems just around the corner—and frustratingly out-of-reach. Whether she is running to a meeting with nagging thoughts about how her daughter’s science test went or resisting the temptation to check e-mail while chaperoning the holiday party, feelings of mediocrity can be overwhelming.
