Michael McKay Santo, or Chef Michael, as he prefers to be called, is bringing bold new concepts to Grand Rapids with the opening of his restaurant McKay’s Downtown. Represented by David Wiener and Ray Kisor of Colliers International, McKay’s now occupies a heavily trafficked area of the Arena District at 25 Ottawa. 

One home decor feature that has been floating around a lot lately is the styled bar cart. It’s probably a page taken from the 1960s Mad Men era, but no matter where it came from, I’m very much in favor. As our dining room progresses, I’ve been working on styling our own bar. I’ve noticed a lot of similarities in the bars that I pin—they’re typically colorful, have gold details, and contain some whimsical elements. Still, I still tried to bring a little variety here!

Now that we have passed the unofficial start of summer, we Michiganders know that it is time to take advantage of entertaining outdoors! Creating an outdoor space for entertaining is like adding a room onto your house. A few well-chosen accessories can make the space work even better for hosting friends and family for an enjoyable event.

Although we’re continuing to get snow flurries in Michigan, Easter is just around the corner! After months of gray weather and few reasons for big celebrations, it’s time to get creative. Whether you celebrate with a small or large group, bright spring colors and a festive table setting can really set the mood for a great Easter holiday event.

I love the moment in time that a graduation party celebrates—the success of completing one chapter in your book, as well as the excitement of how you will write the next chapters. There’s so much to reflect upon and look forward to that it’s just no wonder people want to have a party! Here are a few of my ideas for a Broadway-themed graduation party …
