Get downtown Grand Rapids this summer for GRandJazzFest on August 18. The first day-long festival of its kind in the city will be held in Rosa Parks Circle. Long-time jazz aficionados and musicians will fill the park with sound and hopefully audience members. The event is free to the public. The event kicks off at 12 p.m. until 10 p.m. Performers to date include Time Bowman, playing jazz guitar, Phil Denny, a jazz saxophonist, and Walt Gutowski & The Bridge Street Band playing contemporary jazz. The public is invited to attend Green Drinks at the City Sen Lounge at City Flats Hotel at 83 Monroe Center in Grand Rapids on Thursday, May 17 from 5-7 p.m. Sponsored this month by Moms Clean Air Force, Green Drinks is a networking event of employees working in the environmental field. The events attract a lively mixture of people from NGOs, academia, government, and business. All are welcome to attend.
