Boot Girls are Smart Girls

Nancy Sinatra sang that catchy tune “These Boots Are Made for Walkin’” and boy, was she ever right. Today, women are still wearing their boots, loving their boots, and making sure they have more than enough pairs. The new trend this year is the bootie, a short ankle version that has a real kick to it.

“It’s so important to have the short boot this year,” says Kim Petroelje, owner of Studio K Clothing Company in Holland. “It’s the trend this year.” After Fashion Week, the shorter boot look was everywhere with people tucking or rolling their skinny jeans into booties.

Look to Studio K for some boots, including the “Louie” boot that’s suede with fringe from the Sam Edelman Shoes line. The store is known for it’s eclectic mix of everything from denim to cocktail wear.

“We are not a store for basics. We are where you come to top off your wardrobe when you need something special,” says Kim, who suggests pairing short boots with fun, fall dresses and tights.

“Where we live it’s a great thing come fall and winter considering all the rain and snow,” Kim says. Whether purchased for easy walking or to dress up a look or wear them to dress down a look (think football games), the short boot is an easy wardrobe update that completes a number of ensembles.

Today’s lesson? Boot girls are smart girls.
