Transition into fall like a fashion pro with style tips that allow you to stretch those summer items into the beginning of the next season.
“You can take a lot of outfits through the early fall months,” says Brynne Marsden Roberts, owner of the swank consignment boutique Rock Paper Scissors located at 145 Diamond Ave. SE in Grand Rapids. With fickle weather working against you, Brynne suggests layering first and foremost along with the possibility of leggings to create brand new outfits from existing summer pieces.
Another rule for the books, “keep in mind fabrics and their make. The weight of a piece and the texture really defines how seasonal something is.” It helps to keep in touch with fall trends and popular colors, which this season, according to Brynne, runs the gamut from camel, plum hues, dark teal, and of course your basic black “which never really leaves.”
It’s all about moving from coral into tangerine at this fashion juncture and Brynne can help—and what better time than the Fashion’s Night Out event? Held September 6, the event promotes shopping local, and for the fun of it and Rock Paper Scissors is on board. Head to the store’s soiree (open later until 11 p.m.) for food, wine, free gifts, giveaways, and in-store styling. Call the store at 805-6848 for more details.
