You get what you pay for.
Sometimes, we throw down big money for luxurious products fit for a queen. Other times, we scrimp and save. Our cheap list is a meet-in-the-middle sweet spot where you get great products and results—and save a fortune.
"L'Oréal Voluminous mascara is the best store-bought mascara. I use waterproof," said Lisa Ruff. This inexpensive mascara received many compliments, but consider also Covergirl's The Super Sizer Fibers or Maybeline Great Lash Clear.
"I use it on my eyebrows, lashes, flyaways. It's magic!" said Emily Reisner.
"Wet n wild MegaLast nail color in 2% Milk has a pro brush that's nice and wide to cover nails in one sweep and it's a neutral that makes you look tan," said Kelly Aleksynas. For under $2, you can try this out and see if you agree.
Dry shampoo might make up a percentage of our DNA these days. Ladies seem to love Batiste brand the most (especially the Floral & Flirty scent), along with Garnier Fructis Volume Extend Dry Shampoo.
"You can even make it yourself with corn starch or arrowroot powder (with a little cocoa powder if you're a brunette), and it seems to work better than store-bought products," said Kim Kibby.
"Huggies wipes (cucumber and green tea) for makeup removal/washing your face," said Amy L Charles. We hear YouTube gurus rave about Costco makeup remover wipes as well. Or try coconut oil.
"Suave Essentials conditioner for $1.99. I use the Curly Girl method on my curls, which means no shampoo and silicone-free conditioners," said Paula Thompson. Suave Kids scores points, too—specifically its leave-in-conditioner.
At a dollar or two, e.l.f. brushes are super cost effective. Pro tip: Wash them every day with baby shampoo to keep them clean.
"My best cheap makeup is e.l.f. Lip Stains," said Sue Evans. Another super affordable lip stain is from Wet n Wild.
"There's not much I go cheap on anymore, but Meijer's apricot scrub and Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream are good, inexpensive staples I keep around," said Abby Sladick
