Summer "Simmer" Camp for Kids

Engage with the West Michigan Woman Community!

Summer camp season has begun. The team at Grand Rapids Downtown Market knows not every kid wants to climb across a ropes course, search for bugs or sing Kumbaya—some of them want to cook! For this group of aspiring young chefs, Downtown Market offers "Simmer" Camps.

At these three-day Simmer Camps, mini chefs ages 6 to 11 harvest their own ingredients and acquire new culinary skills. In addition to cooking in the market's state-of-the art teaching kitchen, campers play outdoor games, make nature-related crafts and shop in Market Hall for ingredients they will add to their culinary masterpieces.

Weekly camp themes include Baking 101, Oven Science, Road Trip USA, Movie Meal Mayhem and Modern City Homesteading.

Simmer Camp runs from June 28 – July 28, Tuesday through Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The registration deadline for week one is June 21. All of the sessions are filling up fast!
