And That’s the Bottom Line

Floriza Genautis, Founder and CEO of Management Business Solutions, Inc. (MBS), knows staffing.

After graduating with a degree in math and computer application from De La Salle University in the Phillippines, she had a job waiting for her. Instead, Floriza moved to Silicon Valley to be closer to her family—and ended up mopping floors at Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Overqualified for having a degree and underqualified for no experience, Floriza took any job she was offered. Eventually, she connected with a staffing agency that sent her in multifarious directions on various assignments.

"You name it, I've probably done it. It was always instilled in me from my mom and dad growing up that you really need to work hard."

And work hard she did. Some days, she'd commute an hour and a half by bus, one-way, for a meager three-day position. Other days, she worked 8 a.m. to midnight. Finally, she was hired by a staffing agency and worked her way up to a recruiter.

From starting as a temporary employee, to working in the back office of a staffing agency and serving as a recruiter, Floriza has firsthand experience of all the different areas of staffing. So, when she moved to Grand Rapids and launched MBS shortly after, she knew the best approach for helping her clients and candidates.

Relationships.

Whether MBS is working with a business, nonprofit organization or candidate, the team's philosophy is built on forming relationships that offer a deeper understanding of each client and candidate's unique needs.

"It's not just about the bottom line. It's about delivering the best possible solution."

Founded in 2006, MBS has grown from a staffing agency of one to a team with multiple players in the past 10 plus years. Two new owners have joined Floriza, with another in the process, through MBS' Five-Year Employee Ownership Plan. The business reached all-time high revenue last year, and has outgrown its office space for the third time.

Recently, MBS relocated to a building on Buchanan Avenue SW. Its 8,200 square feet offers room for MBS to grow even further, offering space for MBS to host conferences and events, as well as rent to tenant companies.

Floriza said she hopes the space allows MBS to give back more to their clients, candidates and the community—because Floriza knows staffing, and she and her team work to provide exactly what each client and candidate needs.

And that's the bottom line.
