CEO | Girl Scouts of Michigan Shore to Shore

Vivian TerMaat is the CEO of Girl Scouts of Michigan Shore to Shore, a council serving 6,000 girls across 30 counties in Michigan. Leading with a rare combination of business acumen, mission clarity, and deep community investment, TerMaat’s career spans broadcast media sales, nonprofit advancement, and full-time motherhood. A credentialed fundraiser (CFRE) and trustee at Ferris State University, TerMaat holds a bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University and a master’s degree from Aquinas College. She’s active in Leadership Grand Rapids, the Grand Rapids Chamber, and the Grand Rapids Economic Club. Under her leadership, GSMISTS launched Girl Scout DreamLab, an innovation facility that has become a symbol of the organization's bold vision for girls. TerMaat lives in Ada with her husband Tom and their three daughters and brings to her work a faith-grounded conviction that service is not a choice but a calling.

“I'm not just running a nonprofit. I'm fighting for something. For the girl in rural Northern Michigan who needs to see herself as a leader before anyone else does. For the mom who volunteers because she remembers what Girl Scouts did for her. For the future that starts with a troop meeting on a Tuesday night in a church basement somewhere in one of our 30 counties. I serve because I believe it. Fully. And I've never found a reason to stop.”
