Charitable Holiday Shopping Is Still On!

Engage with the West Michigan Woman Community!

Though things look a bit different this year, Junior League of Grand Rapids (JLGR) is making it easy to continue to shop charitably this upcoming holiday season.

For safety amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, JLGR's traditional Beneath the Wreath charitable shopping event—which has delighted community members in search of the perfect holiday gift for years—has shifted to a virtual format. The organization is hosting a virtual event from November 9 – 15, 2020, which includes an online auction for elaborately decorated wreaths and pre-made gift baskets, all donated by area businesses.

If you've got your eye on a particular wreath (JLGR is already posting previews on their social channels), set your alarm for 9 a.m. on November 9 and keep an eye on it until the auction closes on November 15 at 9 p.m. Another perk? JLGR is delivering the wreaths and pre-made gift baskets to the winners via non-contact porch drop off.

In addition to the auction, those wishing to get in the holiday spirit while supporting a good cause could preorder some holiday décor and gifts now until November 15.

Available options include poinsettias in multiple sizes and colors, as well as natural pine wreaths and customized ornaments—an ideal option for a traditional, yet special gift. Poinsettias and wreaths will be available for drive-thru pick up on December 5 at the Cultural Center, located at 2250 E Paris Ave SE in Grand Rapids, while the personalized ornaments will be shipped direct.

All proceeds from both the online auction and the holiday décor orders go toward Junior League of Grand Rapids programming, which focus on improving children's physical health in the Grand Rapids area and developing woman leaders.
