The Mind Body Baby Collective: A New Space for Moms

Engage with the West Michigan Woman Community!

Mind Body Baby expanding to form The Collective, a space offering community access to like-minded providers, professionals, childcare and more.

Mind Body Baby, the award-winning fertility, prenatal, postpartum, and children's yoga and barre studio founded by Heidi McDowell, will celebrate the Grand Opening of their new one-of-a-kind facility—The Mind Body Baby Collective—on August 4, 2024.

Located at 2422 Burton St. SE in East Grand Rapids near Breton Village, The Mind Body Baby Collective (also referred to as The Collective) is a nearly 8,000-square-foot space that has been fully renovated to include on-site childcare, in addition to accommodating nearly 20 individual services and amenities—all of which are owned and operated by women and moms.

"Becoming a mom can be hard and being a mom can be even harder—both stages felt very isolating for me. I don't want that for anyone else," said Founder and Owner Heidi McDowell, who was inspired to create The Collective after years of infertility before a successful pregnancy during COVID.

McDowell aims for the women-owned and -operated Collective to be a community and healing space for "mamas and mamas-in-the-making" by offering access to like-minded providers and professionals like chiropractic, pelvic floor physical therapy, mental health therapy, an organic coffee bar and café, a co-working space, a rest lounge, movement and educational classes and much more. Along with all of these services, The Collective plans to also offer access to on-site daily childcare.

"I thought about what moms really need and what barriers they might be facing, and then we created it; we created the solution," McDowell said.

The family-friendly Grand Opening Celebration for The Collective will take place on Sunday, August 4 from 11:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. and is open to the public. Attendees can tour the center, meet the teams, enjoy drinks, food, activities for kids, a food and ice cream truck, face painting, raffles and much more. Community members can also take advantage of the Grand Opening Special and try many services at Mind Body Baby for only $20 during the week of August 5-10.
