Getting geared up to start a new workout routine can seem more than intimidating, but that shouldn't stop you from totally owning it.
Options that are both fun and effective exist—we promise!
Cori Williams, Beer City Barre owner, knows it's perfectly normal to feel nervous and not know what to expect when starting out. "Don't be afraid to be a beginner! Everyone—even your instructors—took their first class once before."
Beer City Barre offers a low-impact, one-hour workout that packs a killer punch—upping your heart rate and fatiguing your muscles while you jam out to fast-paced music. How cool is that?
Incorporating a fun fitness routine into your life keeps you physically fit and provides some major stress relief. You'll likely never regret a workout once you've finished.
"Work your body as well as your mind through activities like swimming, running or weight training. They can help to battle stress and release it from the body," said Kathy Bartnick, Shape Your Life Studios owner. "Indoor cycling at Shape Your Life Studios provides an awesome workout for a fun, high-energy calorie burn. You'll climb hills, do speed work and even jumps on the bike!"
Bartnick recommends using a heart rate band and monitor when exercising, empowering you to work out at the level that's right for you. "You need to aim for an 80 percent heart rate to burn fat most efficiently. A monitor will help you know when to slow down or when you can push yourself even further."
Still feeling apprehensive? Fear not!
"Reach out to the trainer or studio you want to try out and let them know you're a little freaked." said Williams. "I bet they'll meet with you early to ease your fears—or maybe even connect you with someone who's been there a while to show you the ropes."
