Jamie Downes is an Associate Attorney at Varnum LLP and LaChaun Steverson is the Category Business Director- Active Lifestyle at Wolverine Worldwide Inc. Both of these awesome women serve on Humane Society of West Michigan’s Board of Directors!

“I am thrilled to serve as Co-Chair of the 5th Annual Paws, Claws, and Corks event happening on March 20 at DeVos Place,” Jamie Downes said. “Nothing is more fulfilling than seeing a group of passionate individuals and organizations joining forces to support such an important cause. I am lucky to be supported in this role by Varnum. I've seen firsthand the positive impact the Humane Society of West Michigan has on all lives in our community. From placing animals in their forever homes to educating children about animal welfare, nothing goes unattended at the Humane Society of West Michigan. Animals are my passion, and supporting an organization committed to compassionately caring for all hurt, abused, and abandoned animals is a privilege.”

“If I could adopt every animal in need, I would do so. In reality, this is beyond my resources,” said LaChaun Steverson. “I put my efforts towards Humane Society of West Michigan as we share the same mission, finding animals loving, forever homes. I have been lucky enough to bring a wonderful rescue into my home and family. Being adopted was not lost on him, you can see how grateful he is every day. It isn’t lost on the thousands of other animals that find themselves in a shelter either. HSWM helps them find a family. There honestly is nothing like seeing an animal that knows it finally belongs. That look of love and gratitude warms my heart and keeps me going."
