Priority Health has shared that Megan Schmidt—who has served as vice president of sales and client services for Priority Health for the last four years and has been with the company in a variety of leadership roles since 2005—has been promoted to the position of senior vice president of employer solutions.
In this role, Schmidt will lead the company's commercial insurance line of business that serves small and large companies across Michigan. She is a graduate of Ferris State University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in business administration.
"We conducted an extensive, nationwide search to make sure that we found the right candidate to fill this important leadership position," said Praveen Thadani, President of Priority Health. "Megan's strong track record of success at Priority Health, combined with her experience and familiarity with our business and clients, differentiated her from all other candidates. I'm excited to have her join our senior leadership team."
Schmidt excels at driving growth and unique solutions, building high performing teams and creating strong relationships with Priority Health clients. Her previous contributions leading sales, commercial marketing and market development resulted in significant growth for the company's small and large commercial group business.
The company's strategic alliance with Cigna—which offers Priority Health members access to the company's national network of providers when they travel outside of Michigan—is an endeavor Schmidt also played a key role in securing.
"It's been incredibly rewarding for me to have had the opportunity to be part of Priority Health's growth for the past 15 years," said Schmidt. "I'm thankful for all of the employers and agents that I've had an opportunity to work with, innovate with and support over the years. I'm proud of what our team has accomplished so far and I'm looking forward to this new challenge and the opportunity to be part of the continued growth and advancement of employer solutions here at Priority Health."
In addition to her leadership role with Priority Health, Schmidt is also actively involved in a variety of community organizations including Michigan Association of Health Underwriters, American Cancer Society, the Michigan Women's Foundation, Inforum and the Grand Rapids Economic Club.
