For thirteen years, we taught investment classes for a college and various local community education programs. Many students were highly educated—successful business owners, mid- to high-level corporate managers, doctors, lawyers, MBAs, nurses, technicians, schoolteachers, retirees, and homemakers, all seeking to learn about the successful way to invest. Now we teach at conferences, workshops, churches, and businesses, and continue to enjoy the student interaction.
We ask our students, “Has anyone ever explained to you how to invest simply and stress-free using the Free Market philosophy?” Few have ever heard of our investing philosophy. Why not? What incentive does the financial world have to teach you investment truths? None! It’ll only hurt their profit—their bottom line.
Every now and then, an MBA graduate in our class will say she studied Free Markets/Modern Portfolio Theory in college, but still doesn’t know how to apply it to her personal investment portfolio. Many advisors attend our classes, as they haven’t been taught this strategy by any of their broker dealers. They really care about their investors and are searching for a better way to help their investors become successful.
As the class progresses, invariably students would say they never realized how much they didn’t know and wondered why the Free Market philosophy wasn’t taught as part of their high school or college curriculum. We agree! Each generation doesn’t need to keep repeating the same common investing mistakes, over and over again. Only a few of our students had classes on personal investing. Many times, their only investment experience was playing a stock-picking (active trading philosophy) game in high school. Not one student had ever been taught the alternative way to invest—the buy, hold, and rebalance lifetime investing strategy.
Please change this during your generation! Once you share this information with your loved ones and they apply the knowledge, the impact will be that much greater. Knowledge is limiting without the faith actions that support it. It’s the actual application of knowledge that is so powerful and can improve the future for generations to come.
Take every class your coach offers or go to our website and view the investor education videos, as each time you attend, you attain a new level of knowledge and receive what you need to move forward in your understanding. Many of our investors have attended the same class repeatedly, as each time your mind is ready for additional information. If you don’t want to learn and open your mind to new and different ideas, it is difficult to move forward and improve your situation.
