In West Michigan, where food is as much about community as it is about taste, restaurants are finding creative ways to make the dining table more welcoming.

Anna's House—a locally founded breakfast-and-lunch favorite and finalist for Best Breakfast in Revue magazine's 2025 Best of the West readers' poll—has been steadily evolving its menu to meet the needs of guests with dietary restrictions, and its latest steps are making waves.

From the beginning, Anna's House and CEO/owner, Josh Beckett, has taken a proactive approach to gluten-free dining. Each location has a dedicated gluten-free prep area to help prevent cross-contamination, along with strict protocols for ingredient handling. Gluten-free meals are prepared with separate equipment and utensils, and servers are trained to ask if a dish is for an allergy or dietary preference to ensure extra care.

The same attention to detail extends to vegan dining. Anna's House uses dedicated vegan cooking surfaces and utensils to avoid cross-contact with animal products, ensuring guests who follow a vegan diet can enjoy their meals with confidence. The menu also features thoughtfully crafted plant-based options that go beyond standard substitutions.

Now, the restaurant is broadening its focus even further. In recent months, Anna's House has begun phasing in seed-oil-free menu options. These changes reflect a growing awareness of food sensitivities and the demand for minimally processed, nutrient-focused ingredients. Seed oils, such as soybean or canola, have come under increased scrutiny among some nutrition-conscious diners, while soy allergies remain one of the most common in the U.S.

This season, that dedication to dietary inclusivity shines in the new Fall Features Menu, now available. Highlights include gluten-free Pumpkin Pancakes, an Autumn BLT with cinnamon-apple bread, a flavorful Korean Steak Bowl, Kimchi Eggrolls, and more creative dishes designed to appeal to a wide variety of tastes and needs. As always, the menu blends bold flavors with mindful ingredient choices, ensuring guests can enjoy their meals with confidence.

Anna's House's standard of gluten-free, vegan, and seed-oil-free offerings reflects a future where West Michigan's food scene is both innovative and inclusive—and everyone has a seat at the table.
