Don't be caught on Christmas Eve or the afternoon before a birthday party with a shortage of gift-wrapping supplies. Keep a few things on hand year-round so you'll be ready when the last minute invites pop up in the mail.
Your wrapping station should include:
Solid colored paper in several shades. Purchase solid paper in bulk so you never run out. Light blue paper with snowmen is only good during snow-covered months. Light blue paper with a white bow could pass for a baby shower, beach-themed party, or something more wintery.
Solid ribbon in several colors. Embellish your plain wrapping paper with a little flare. Choose matching or contrasting colors to make the decoration pop, or match colors to reflect the theme of the party or the interests of the host. For example, if the party is for a Tigers baseball fan, use your blue paper and orange ribbon.
Double-sided tape and scissors. These are wrapping essentials. Keep a separate roll of tape and pair of scissors specifically for wrapping, that way, they'll always be there when you need them, and you'll keep your scissors nice and sharp for cutting, too.
Bags and large bows. Equip your wrapping station for all unruly shapes and sizes. Keep large boxes on hand as well and place hard-to-wrap items inside along with bubble wrap or crumpled up newspaper. Throw the opener off even more by adding weight to the box (using a phone book for example).
Think ahead and be ready to wrap every gift for the birthdays, celebrations, and holidays 2012.
