Gilda’s Laughfest to Launch LaughFest Friends Membership

Engage with the West Michigan Woman Community!

Gilda’s LaughFest officials have launched LaughFest Friends, a new membership program. Members will receive a variety of benefits, including VIP access to the November 12 headlining artists announcement launch party, which will be held at 7:30 a.m. at the Grand Rapids Art Museum, 101 Monroe Center, Grand Rapids, Michigan, and a members-only party to be scheduled in December.

“We’re excited to launch the LaughFest Friends Membership program,” said Joanne Roehm, LaughFest festival director. “This gives LaughFest’s fans an opportunity to get even closer to the festival.  We’re thrilled to provide some unique benefits to the community as part of this program, and are happy to have the opportunity to collaborate with Mitten State.”

Beginning October 31, individuals could purchase a LaughFest Friends membership at laughfestgr.org for $25. Members will receive a limited edition LaughFest shirt designed by Mitten State, known for its Michigan-inspired apparel and its commitment to give back to the community. Other features of the membership include early access to LaughFest 2014 Fast Passes and exclusive year-round content, such as e-blasts, behind-the scene-photos, and more. Each member will receive a High-Five button indicating a portion of the membership fee is being donated to Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids for the children’s cancer and grief support and their in-school emotional health programs.

The headlining artists announcement launch party for LaughFest’s fourth annual festival will include details on who will be performing during the festival, which will run March 6 through 16, information on purchasing tickets for events, and a preliminary schedule.

“It is always fun to roll out the names of the festival headliners to the community,” said Wendy Wigger, president of LaughFest and Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids. “As we move into our fourth year, we do so knowing we have continued to achieve our goal of raising awareness of the free cancer, grief, and emotional health support programs we offer through Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids. The proceeds we raise through LaughFest also contribute to our ability to offer our services free to all children and adults, as well.”

Designed to celebrate laughter for the health of it, LaughFest includes free and ticketed events from stand-up, improv, film, authors, community showcases, and a variety of seriously funny stuff. Past LaughFest headliners included Bill Cosby, Mike Birbiglia, Kathleen Madigan, Margaret Cho, Betty White, Whoopi Goldberg, Mike Epps, Rodney Carrington, Martin Short, Kevin Nealon, Wayne Brady, Jim Breuer, Joel McHale, Lewis Black, Brian Regan, and Anjelah Johnson.
