Dégagé Ministries will host its annual year-end benefit, Celebrate Dégagé, on November 22, 2013 at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park. The event will bring together Dégagé staff and volunteers, along with donors and friends of the ministry. Among the milestones being celebrated is the recent tenth anniversary of the Open Door Women’s Center, an overnight shelter for women in crisis. Some of its undertakings:
- Providing overnight shelter to 2,260 Kent County women in need since opening.
- So far in 2013, the program has provided nine thousand overnight stays for women.
- Adding ten new beds, allowing for a capacity of forty women per night.
The event will not only celebrate the success Dégagé has had over the past year, but also applaud the people who help keep it running, from donors to the staff and volunteers. Guests will enjoy a wonderful catered meal, video presentation, ministry update, and opportunities to enter a raffle and 50/50 drawing, as well as have access to strolling Fredrik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park.
Daily, Dégagé Ministries offers help and hope to four hundred to five hundred homeless and disadvantaged individuals in the community. Responsive programming is designed to address both immediate and long-term needs, such as overnight respite for women in crisis, food, referral services, and hygiene facilities.
Tickets to the event are $50 each. To reserve tickets, contact Joy Petroelje at 616-588.6937 or [email protected].
