Lift Up the YWCA and donate a new bra at the November 6, 2013, WISE Giving Back event "How Does Domestic Violence Affect the Workplace?" at the Grand Rapids Community Foundation.
The Grand Rapids YWCA has a long wish list to meet the needs of all the people they serve. The event will unite women in support of the YWCA in its' effort to provide safe shelter and a peaceful respite for those in need.
The WISE Annual Giving Back Event supports the Grand Rapids YWCA Domestic Violence Division. Sponsored by Herman Miller, the evening will be begin at 5 p.m. at the Grand Rapids Community Foundation (GRCF). Bra and undergarment donations will be accepted inside the foyer of the historic GRCF building. Women will have time to network in the collaborative space. Following the informal networking Becky Diffin, director of supportive housing of Grand Rapids YWCA will present the program:
How Does Domestic Violence affect the workplace?
An overwhelming number of assailants use company resources including computers, cars, phones, etc. to track or stalk their victims
Stories will be shared of women who have had to abandon their careers because of the violence they endured at home and who, with the assistance of the YWCA, have successfully transitioned into new careers and happier lives. Learn more about what we can do as women in business to support the YWCA’s efforts to decrease domestic violence in our community.
The YWCA Domestic Crisis Center accepts those who are fleeing domestic violence situations. The Center attempts to provide shelter and items of need to help ease the discomfort of living in a place that is not home.
Support the Y with a donation of a new bra, undergarments, and your attendance to the WISE Give Back Event. WISE will donate $5 of every ticket to the YWCA Domestic Crisis Center.

If you can not attend the event, please support the Give a Gal Lift Program by dropping off donations at the Grand Rapids YWCA, located at 25 Sheldon Blvd SE in Grand Rapids. Along with bras and monetary donations, the YWCA is in need of:
- women’s underwear (non-brief type) sized 5-8
- men’s boxers/briefs (small, medium, and large)
- children’s underwear (any size)
