Critter Barn to Bring the Farm to Holland Farmers Market

Engage with the West Michigan Woman Community!

Zeeland’s Critter Barn will host the weekly Kids Activities at the Holland Farmers Market Wednesday, June 26, beginning at 10 a.m. During the Kids Activity, children will be invited to hold chicks and pet chickens while they learn all about eggs and the farmers who raise turkeys and chickens for our dinner table. Herrick District Library will kick off the Kids Activities with Market Story Time at 9:30 a.m.

The Critter Barn began as a hobby farm in 1984 and grew to be much more over the years. The Zeeland farm touches the lives of thousands of children annually and offers a variety of hands-on educational classes, tours, and programs. The Critter Barn hosts a number of special events throughout the year, which are fun for the entire family. For more information on the Critter Barn visit their website at www.critterbarn.org.

The Kids Activities take place every Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., from June 5 to August 28. Each week, the Farmers Market partners with a local nonprofit organization or business to host creative, educational, and hands-on activities for children ages three to ten. Activities are free to attend and begin with a Market Story Time, led by the Herrick District Library. Children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

The Holland Farmers Market is open every Wednesday and Saturday, beginning at 8 a.m., from late-May through mid-December, rain or shine. Be sure to shop early for the best selection! The City of Holland’s Department of Leisure and Cultural Services hosts the Market at the Eighth Street Market Place (150 West Eighth Street) in Downtown Holland. For more information about the Holland Farmers Market, contact Market Master Candy Todd at 616-355-1138. No pets of any kind are allowed at the market.
