Downtown Holland Receives $4,000 Grant to Support Street Performer Series

Engage with the West Michigan Woman Community!

The Downtown Holland Principal Shopping District is pleased to announce that it is the recipient of a $4,000 grant from the State of Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs and the Holland Area Arts Council. The grant will support the 2013 Street Performer Series, a weekly program featuring performing artists and groups from all backgrounds who perform free for the public throughout downtown Holland.

Each Thursday evening in the summer, the sidewalks of downtown Holland are filled with every type of performance art imaginable, including musicians, aerial acrobats, balloon twisters, jugglers, theatrical troupes, dancers, magicians, caricature artists, and much more. Young and old alike are invited to delight in the sights and sounds of the street performers each week. The 2013 Street Performer Series begins June 13 and will take place from 6:30-8:30 p.m. every Thursday, through August 29.

The Regional Regranting Program is a grant giving partnership financed by the State of Michigan through the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs and run by regional re-granting agencies. The Holland Area Arts Council is one of nineteen re-granters who administer funds at the local level to support arts and cultural projects that recognize and address a community need.

For more information on the Street Performer Series, please contact the Downtown Holland Principal Shopping District at 616-796-1210 or e-mail [email protected].
