Sydney’s Boutique is hosting a series of events throughout the city to highlight local talent produced by Grand Rapids Public Schools, as a celebration of our community. These events will include appearances by many local leaders and celebrities. Events include a live jam session with local bands, a day of workshops with GRPS students including scholarships opportunities, and a New York-style runway fashion show.
The event will take place Friday, May 24, at 6 p.m. through Sunday, May 26, at 10 p.m. Click here for tickets.
As an involved community member, Kristian Grant, the owner of Sydney’s Boutique, was looking for a way to spotlight all of the positives GRPS has produced over the years: “I believe that our youth in the community have limitless potential. They don’t always need to be reminded of the negatives around them. I want to show them what has been done while inspiring them to do more. Our Spotlight Weekend will do just this.”
Notable community leaders such as Susan Heartwell, Tony Campbell, Rosalynn Bliss, and Senita Lenear are committee members for the weekend. “The goal of this weekend is to bring an entire community together to celebrate our victories.”
Sydney’s Boutique is a local women’s clothing boutique in the heart of Eastown that specializes in unique statement pieces for the on-the-go woman. As a company, Sydney’s believes that it is our individual duty to contribute to our community and that the best way to inspire their actions is to show by example.
