Inaugural Women's Sports & Health Expo Coming to Grand Rapids; West Michigan Sports Commission's Victory Lap Community Fund Chosen as Charity Partner.
February 25, 2025 at DeVos Place Convention Center is the place to be for those looking for all things related to sports, nutrition, fitness and more. The inaugural Women's Sports & Health Expo, which recently announced Wolverine Worldwide as its presenting sponsor in addition to a partnership with the Grand Rapids Rise, seeks to empower, celebrate, educate, and motivate women and girls, along with the communities that support them.
The first-of-its-kind event will offer a dynamic platform for participants of all ages to explore a wide range of topics crucial to women's health and athletic performance, including nutrition, injury prevention, mental health and sports psychology. By fostering an inclusive and supportive environment, the event seeks to inspire women and girls to embrace the benefits of an active lifestyle.
Whether you're a seasoned athlete or a beginner looking to start your wellness journey, the event is poised to provide valuable insights and resources tailored to the unique needs of women and girls in different stages of life.
"I am thrilled to see this event come to life. Having dedicated my life to sports and wellness, I am deeply passionate about creating a platform that empowers and inspires our community," said Amy Muller, Executive Director of the Women's Sports & Health Expo. "This is my home, where I live and raise my family, and it makes me very proud and excited to bring such a meaningful event here. This expo is more than just a gathering; it's a chance to inspire, educate and connect our community. I'm confident it will have a lasting impact, fostering greater participation and support for women in athletics."
Knowing that in order to learn about women's health and sport, one also needs to have access to it. This is why the Women's Sports & Health Expo has chosen to partner with and donate a portion of every registration fee to the West Michigan Sports Commission's Victory Lap Community Fund, which focuses on community projects or programs that feature equality, equity and diversity and ensures access to sports for all.
"We are delighted to collaborate with the Women's Sports & Health Expo," said Katy Tigchelaar, Vice President of Operations at the West Michigan Sports Commission. "A partnership only enhances this fund and through their contributions we're able to further help bridge the gap of access to sport for all. We look forward to making a positive impact in our community together."
Thanks to Wolverine Worldwide's presenting sponsorship of the Expo, attendees can interact with their brands through a Saucony sponsored 40-yard dash, a fitness class sponsored by Sweaty Betty, and more.
"We are thrilled to have Wolverine Worldwide as the presenting sponsor of the Women's Sports & Health Expo," Muller added. "This partnership demonstrates their commitment to empowering women and girls to lead healthy, active lives. Together, we're creating an event that truly meets women where they are on their wellness journey."
The Expo's partnership with the Grand Rapids Rise, a flagship team in the Pro Volleyball Federation that's currently in its second season, is also cause for excitement. The Rise has quickly become a beacon of progress and possibility for women's sports in West Michigan, combining dynamic athletic performance with a commitment to community outreach and youth programs. As a charter member of the Pro Volleyball Federation and a 2024 League championship finalist, the Rise exemplifies leadership both on and off the court, inspiring the next generation of female athletes.
"Partnering with the Grand Rapids Rise is a monumental step in championing women's athletics and health," said Muller. "They are paving the way for professional women's sports in Grand Rapids, and together, we're creating a platform that celebrates the strength and potential of women in sports and wellness."
As part of the collaboration, Expo attendees can engage with the Rise through an insightful presentation about their mission and interactive experiences.
