Making its debut this winter, ENLIGHTEN offers a captivating blend of art, light and nature.
The immersive experience features a stunning one-mile pathway illuminated by innovative light displays, enchanting music, interactive experiences, and world-renowned sculpture.
Produced by the visionary and innovative teams at Lightswitch and Upstaging, ENLIGHTEN is set to rival the world's most iconic holiday displays through an immersive outdoor experience that Meijer Gardens says is nothing short of magical.
On select dates from November 27 through January 4, 2025, ENLIGHTEN beckons guests to journey on an immersive one-mile walk through Meijer Gardens that's complete with cutting-edge light installations, choreographed to enthralling music, and enhanced by interactive elements. The walk also takes guests by masterpieces by legendary artists including Henry Moore, Auguste Rodin and Ai Weiwei. The iconic The American Horse by Nina Akamu, alongside works by Mark di Suvero and Roxy Paine, will be showcased in dynamic lightscapes, creating a magnificent fusion of sculpture and immersive technology.
Beyond the mesmerizing light displays, the ENLIGHTEN experience offers an array of food (including smoked turkey legs and toasted almonds), drinks (hot cocoa, coffee, spiked beverages and beer) and festive activities, making it the perfect holiday outing for families, friends and art enthusiasts.
"ENLIGHTEN transcends the ordinary holiday event. It's an immersive experience that fuses the finest elements of art, nature and technology to captivate and inspire visitors of all ages," said Charles Burke, President and CEO of Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park. "We are thrilled to collaborate with Lightswitch and Upstaging to bring this extraordinary vision to life in our community."
The new experience adds to the festivities at Meijer Gardens alongside their annual University of Michigan Health–West: Christmas & Holiday Traditions exhibition (running November 27 through January 5, 2025), where guests can take in more than 40 trees and displays representing countries and cultures across the globe.
Running during evening hours from Nov. 27, 2024, to Jan. 4, 2025, Timed tickets for this evening experience are available now at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park.
