What does it take to be named the best female singing quartet in the world?
Hear for yourself as international award-winning quartet Speed of Sound shares the stage with the Grand Rapids Sweet Adelines Chorus this September.
The Sweet Adelines will welcome the Speed of Sound quartet to Grand Rapids for a stellar Harmony Quest fall performance on Saturday, September 8, at 7 p.m., inside Grandville High School.
Reaching audiences since 1951, Grand Rapids Sweet Adelines are a membership organization of female singers, who meet regularly to practice, perform, socialize and have fun. Under the direction of Denise VanDyken, the group currently has over 60 singers of all ages, from all walks of life, and from various parts of the Greater Grand Rapids area ... and even farther!
"It will be so exciting to take the stage along with our sisters in harmony—The Grand Rapids Sweet Adelines," said Carter Maysilles, baritone for Speed of Sound. "We will all put on a fantastic show."
Specializing in singing cutting-edge arrangements, Speed of Sound is a long-distance quartet from all over the country, with over 60 years of barbershop experience. The quartet has been together for nearly five years and has achieved major accomplishments in the Sweet Adeline world—even being crowned Queens of Harmony in Las Vegas in 2016. Speed of Sound seeks to spread their love for the art form of barbershop and stresses the importance of keeping barbershop alive and well for the coming generations.
