Grand Rapids Garage Bar & Grill (GRBG) is bringing block parties back. For the second summer in a row, Garage Bar Block Parties are rocking Ottawa Avenue every Wednesday evening from June 15 through August 31. The parties run from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. in front of the venue at 819 Ottawa Avenue, and feature live music, food and drink specials, and motorcycle and classic car competitions.
"It's just a great way to break up the week at a downtown concert," said Kevin Farhat, GRBG owner.
GRGB serves $1 tacos from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and $2 drafts, $3 well drinks and $4 glasses of wine throughout the evening. An exhibit area running along Ottawa from Fairbanks to Newberry streets features motorcycles and classic cars, and GRGB awards prizes for the best each week.
Cost for admission is $3, and GRGB will donate $1 from each cover pay to the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. Between previous street parties and other charitable events, GRGB has raised more than $7,500 over the past two years to benefit the home.
This year, GRGB partnered with WGRD 97.9 FM to secure top-notch musical acts. Each band will perform two sets between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m.
