"Festival," as most locals refer to it, is a celebration of the arts in West Michigan. This year's Festival of the Arts runs June 6, 7, and 8, in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids. The forty-fifth annual event is one of the state's longest-running festivals, and all activities, exhibits, and performances are free.
Indoor and outdoor stages offer dance, music, theater, and more, in a range of styles to appeal to all ages and interests. Among the other offerings are art activities, film, poetry, and storytelling—and don't forget the food! There's an art to eating, and dozens of food booths operated by local nonprofit organizations will have desserts, ethnic specialties, "kid food," and more available for purchase. In addition to art exhibits, activities, and performances you'll find an Art Sales Tent, offering chances to buy unique art works.
