Engage with the West Michigan Woman Community!

Pinterest is the new social media kid on the block, but with its 10 million active monthly users, it isn't something business owners should wait to use if they want to watch sales grow. Many companies are already using Pinterest to drive traffic to their websites or raise awareness of company offerings. The image-sharing site is worth a thousand words, or a thousand plus page views when used correctly.

Jump on the bandwagon of the latest and greatest social media breakthrough using these marketing strategies.

Make a Pinning Plan: Get all of your ducks in a row before you create a new Pinterest account. Consider your objectives and what your company hopes to gain through a presence on the site. What kind of content will you post? How often will you pin?

Frequency
: The more you pin, the more followers you gain, so dedicate a certain amount of time on a daily or weekly basis to beef up your Pinterest page. Determine when your followers are most active on Pinterest, and meet them there to give them fresh content each time they go to your page.

Social Sharing Options: Add a "Pin It" button to your website to make it easier for visitors to share and pin images with you. The button will appear near your Facebook, Twitter, and other social sharing option buttons.

Follow Up: In time, evaluate your use of Pinterest and decide if your company should make adjustments to the way it is using the site. Determine what is popular so you focus on those areas. Decide what isn't working so you don't waste time.

Promote: Let your friends, families, colleagues, and clients know that you're on Pinterest. You can use other social networks like Facebook and Twitter to promote your Pinterest page and encourage people to join you on another platform.
