Forward Thinking: Our New Intern Gets Her Feet Wet

Engage with the West Michigan Woman Community!

As of last week, I became the new Editorial Intern for Serendipity Media! As a current college student, this was the best thing I could’ve asked for this semester!

Like most students, I wasn’t able to get a job this summer and was becoming more certain that I wouldn’t be able to find a job the rest of this semester. However, one day, I looked on the campus job site and found this one.

I've always loved to write since I was little and still love it as I am majoring in journalism. When I first wrote for my high school newspaper I thought that I would want to do it the rest of my life but up until recently, I’ve been changing my mind.

Reading tied with writing is the hobby I love to do the most. Books have been a constant companion in the summertime and magazines were something I would read and look at when I wasn’t in the mood to read books. After realizing these two things are what I enjoy, I decided that being an editor of books or magazines would be the best job for me–not to mention they will never go out of style and are something that everyone will always read and enjoy.

I am so blessed to be able to have this internship for a few reasons. First, this is something I want to do as a career and now I have a great opportunity to do it. Second, I am very lucky to have a job right now, and third, the people that I work with here are the best. I couldn’t have asked for a better opportunity.

So as the weeks continue to come and go, I will be here with the Serendipity team learning, growing, and enjoying every second of this internship as I inch my way closer to becoming a college graduate in December.
