Understanding the factors making up your colleagues' personalities may help you to interact with them more effectively.
The DISC assessment, in which participants answer a set of questions, takes a short time to complete and provides a profile based on Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, and Conscientiousness or Compliance. The profile indicates how subjects tend to respond to problems and challenges, influence others to their point of view, respond to the pace of the environment, and respond to rules and procedures set by others.
The benefit in completing a DISC assessment with your staff lies in attaining a greater understanding of how to best work with one another. While you may be aware of your preferred communication style, it may not be the most effective approach toward those at a different place on the DISC scale. Online you'll find many programs, in terms of assessments and activities based on those results. Some programs offer the opportunity to bring in a trained facilitator to help you utilize your DISC results; others offer resources a team leader could use to lead employees through activities to help them understand the significance of their assessments. There's also a range of books on the subject, and online videos that could support staff development.
