GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., September 4, 2019—West Michigan Woman is pleased to announce that the first ever “Valiant Victor Award” will be presented at the Wine & Wig on October 3, 2019.
"With the event in its 7th year, it seems only appropriate to acknowledge those who not only support the cause and event, but who year after year have made extraordinary contributions," said West Michigan Woman publisher, Kasie Smith.
The “Valiant Victor Award” aims to recognize an individual who via their voice, connections and spirit, has demonstrated exceptional courage and determination in the fight against breast cancer in the West Michigan community.
We are pleased to announce our first Valiant Victor Honoree…
Debra Bailey
Co-Founder, Gilda's Club Grand Rapids
Trustee, Grand Rapids Community College Board of Trustees
Retired - Director of Global Corporate Relations, Steelcase Inc.
Cancer Survivor
Deb has made a positive impact on the Grand Rapids area in so many ways that it's difficult to imagine how she has time to sleep or eat, let alone balance a career with her community commitments and family life. Yet she makes community involvement seem as natural as the rest of her daily routine. Deb's community commitments are her way of connecting with like-minded people, and she finds value in fueling a spirit of collaboration.
A cancer survivor, Deb is one of the founders of Gilda's Club Grand Rapids which provides free emotional healthcare to children, family, and friends of those affected by cancer. "I feel really good about Gilda's Club," she said, noting that she and the other founders had no idea how great the need was for such a service.
Please join West Michigan Woman in honoring Deb at Wine & Wig this year.
