The winner will be announced on Thursday, April 30, 2020 at the West Michigan Woman Brilliance Awards where they will receive their award and recognition.

At age 16, Bobbi found herself in a predicament: pregnant with little support. Despite the challenges, Bobbi finished high school, attended college and put herself through law school. Years later, Bobbi met her husband and had two more children, one who, as a toddler, was diagnosed with cancer. After a few stints practicing law on her own, Bobbi joined Kreis Enderle in 2017 as an estate planning and family law attorney. Her practice thrived and she became a shareholder as of January 1. Bobbi gives back to the community in multiple ways, including sponsoring young families trying to get on their feet and volunteering with Lifeline at Ada Bible church, working with middle school girls.

Dr. Charmeka Newton is a psychologist at Pine Rest Mental Health Services and faculty member at Western Michigan University. Outside of her work at Pine Rest and in the classroom, she volunteers her time speaking on topics connected to depression, anxiety, multiculturalism, and microaggression, and serves on the executive board for Kids Moving & Thriving, a nonprofit for kids at risk for obesity in West Michigan. Recently, she was appointed by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to serve on the Michigan Board of Psychology. Through serving her community, she hopes to create a more equitable playing field for individuals needing emotional support and mental health services.

Chris is an advocate for everyone he meets. From a small startup, he now runs a $4 million company with 100-plus employees. Chris is a believer in giving back to the community, with more than $250,000 in charitable gifts since 2012. He also helped form the Small Biz 4 Equality, to rally small businesses to work toward expanding the Equality Act to explicitly support LGBTQ+ individuals. He currently supports Hillary Scholten as she runs for Congress and serves on her campaign committee.

Through a tough three-year battle with leukemia as a teenager, Ellie realized philanthropy was her passion. Ellie has been a Patient Mentor for the P.O.R.T program at Spectrum Health where she mentors young women going through their cancer journey. Ellie also volunteers her time as an AFP mentor to young women entering the non-profit world in fundraising.

Faten recently celebrated the one-year anniversary of Hibachi Creamery, a minority- and woman-owned small business that has regular customers coming in and out every day.

Jenn teaches Nutrition and Menu Planning at the Secchia Institute for Culinary Education and is a personal chef for Root Functional Medicine. Currently in her ninth year with Grand Rapids Ballet, Yuka has overcome injuries, personal losses, language barriers, culture shock and professional disappointments to become the prima ballerina of Michigan's only professional ballet company. Despite challenges she initially faced, she persisted, using dance as a way to connect across these barriers. In recent years Yuka dealt with the death of two close family members, making the long trip home to Japan to pay her respects. Never one to rest on her laurels, she finds ways to push herself by expanding her steps, finding new coaching for her roles, taking on new responsibilities like choreographing and teaching, and always searching for the route to further improvement.
