Downtown Rockford will once again transform into an open-air gallery as the Rogue River Artists Association (RRAA) hosts its annual Art in the Park(ing Lot) on Saturday, September 12, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Held in the Rockford Footwear Depot parking lot, the juried art fair has become a favorite late-summer tradition, connecting artists with the community while showcasing the creativity found throughout West Michigan and beyond. This year’s event features more than 80 participating artists, including juried exhibitors and members of the Rogue River Artists Association.
Visitors can explore an extensive collection of original artwork spanning nearly every medium imaginable. Paintings, photography, ceramics, jewelry, woodwork, textiles, fused glass, leather goods, papercrafts, wearable art and home décor will all be available for purchase, making it an ideal destination for collectors, gift shoppers or anyone looking to add a handcrafted piece to their home.
One of the event’s biggest draws is the opportunity to meet the artists themselves. Guests can learn about each artist’s creative process, hear the stories behind their work and gain a deeper appreciation for the craftsmanship that goes into every piece.
“Each year, our artists bring an impressive range of work to this event,” said Angela Sist, Art in the Park(ing Lot) chair. “Visitors can meet the artists, learn about their process and find pieces that truly represent the creativity of our region.”
Now celebrating its third year at the Rockford Footwear Depot, the centrally located venue continues to provide an accessible, welcoming setting for both artists and visitors. The partnership between the Footwear Depot and the Rogue River Artists Association has helped the event continue to grow while maintaining its community-centered atmosphere.
New this year, guests can also enjoy food from the Uccello’s Rockford food truck, making it easy to spend the afternoon shopping, dining, and exploring downtown.
Whether you’re searching for a statement piece, a unique gift or simply an inspiring way to spend a Saturday, Art in the Park(ing Lot) offers the chance to discover exceptional local talent while supporting the region’s vibrant arts community.
Art in the Park(ing Lot) takes place Saturday, September 12, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Rockford Footwear Depot parking lot, 235 N. Main St., Rockford. For artist previews and event updates, visit the Rogue River Artists Association’s Facebook page or the association’s website.
