Heal the Gut, Heal the Body

Our gastrointestinal tract is a sophisticated organ system in our body. While we know its primary role of digesting and breaking down food, this is just a small role. Our GI tract is a snapshot to the rest of the body. If digestive function is compromised, it compromises the entire body. We often look at the GI tract as having four core pillars. If one or all of them gets cracked, it throws off the rest of the body. This is why we should being with the gut as the starting place to achieving optimal health.

What is Detox, Anyway?

It can be easily argued that our world is becoming more toxic. We are bombarded with pesticide, herbicide and exhaust from our environment. We take prescription medications and other over-the-counter medications, often filled with unnecessary chemicals. We eat food with hormones, artificial additives, colors and other preservatives. A stressful lifestyle can become toxic to us. By the time we get to work, we have been exposed to more than 100 different toxins!

"Apply and reapply sunscreen," the professionals tell us, "and you won't have anything to worry about."

But it's a bit more complicated than that.

While ingredients in sunscreen shouldn't be harmful to lungs or internal organs, that's not always the case.
