Engage with the West Michigan Woman Community!

There's so much to celebrate in the summer. From graduation open houses to weddings, birthdays and weekends at the family cabin or lake house, you're living out of a suitcase. We want to help you pack light, pack right and make the most of your time on the road.

INVEST IN A JEWELRY HOLDER.
If you keep your pearls and baubles from colliding, you won't lose beads and gems—and even if you're just gone for a weekend, having a special statement necklace can give you loads of confidence and make you feel dressy and polished. Having everything in its right place, secure and accessible, streamlines your visit. Ditto for the toiletries.

BEACH COVERUPS—THE MORE, THE MERRIER.
This is a lesson in double duty. On the beach or at the pool, these embellished tunics or dresses can keep you covered by day and can be dressed up at night. Often, you can't tell and it maximizes your wardrobe to have these shape-shifters at the ready for whatever use.

P.S. Packing dresses over separate shirts and tops means less clothing to lug around.

MAKE PEACE WITH YOUR BAGS.
A large tote that works for the beach and can also be pulled off at an event is your best bet. Instead of packing bags in bags for all of your events, venues and commitments, pack one purse or tote that can carry it all.

PACK A TOP-SHELF ITEM.
Take it from me: You'll be up at your in-laws' summer beach house, then be invited to an open house with nothing to wear. Always pack a nicer dress or a dressier top to pair with capri pants, in the event that you're swept away someplace nicer than you expected. You'll be prepared and relaxed in your surroundings.
