Luxury Travel for the Everywoman

The idea of luxury travel typically brings to mind images of penthouse suites, chauffeur-driven limousine, and private jets. Yet the definition of luxury travel is evolving, and today it means different things to different people. One key element today's luxury travel experiences share is personalization.

"Luxury is personal," said Shelley Kohtz, MCC, CTC, travel consultant at Witte Travel. "It's unique to each individual based on their interests and lifestyle." Whether that means staying at a glamorous hotel with butler service, enjoying a private tour of a historic site, or lounging beachside in Mexico's Riviera Maya, it's all about enjoying what you want, when and how you want it. Another key element is quality of service. "It doesn't have to be a six-star location," said Lou Lint, CTC, travel agent at Breton Travel. "But it should be a six-star experience where guests feel pampered."

Luxury travel is no longer reserved exclusively for the rich and famous. Everyone from empty nesters to millennials now enjoys luxury experiences in travel, including honeymooners planning that once-in-a-lifetime vacation and multigenerational groups. "Baby boomers, along with their grown children and grandchildren, may stay at a deluxe all-inclusive resort enjoying activities and entertainment, and just spending time together," said Kohtz. "It really is an enriching experience for families."
