Boutiques to the East

Engage with the West Michigan Woman Community!

If you're up for some destination shopping, East Grand Rapids is home to many clothing and home décor boutiques. When the weather is nice, stroll the collective of neighborhood boutiques for necessities and gifts, and treat yourself to shopping in one charming spot.

LOLË offers active wear inspired by well-being. I spotted shorts, tanks, yoga pants, and swimsuits—all beautifully designed—that transition easily from the studio to the street. There's gear to run and work out in, and lifestyle pieces that are versatile and comfortable. What I can't stop thinking about: The bright, cheery colors, the Hush Puppies shoes, and the Jenna Kator handbag line.

PAPERS PLUS is bursting with fine invitations, greeting cards, paper plates, napkins and matching cups, and, really, anything paper-related. Great accessories and gifts come in the form of handbags, jewelry, and popular lines such as Lilly Pulitzer and Vera Bradley. What I can't stop thinking about: Kate Spade items including notepads (big and small), desk sets, card collections, and polka dot pom party decorations.

MASON JONES is the connected sister store of Papers Plus. It features inspiring home décor and tabletop accessories. The store is packed with pillows, candles, frames, and anything that turns your table into something out of a magazine photo shoot. Plus, there's a bridal registry! What I can't stop thinking about: The one hundred percent recycled aluminum frames with matching statement trays with inspirational sayings. I couldn't tear myself away from the display.

BABY MINE is a premiere clothing boutique with enough precious clothing, adorable toys, and one-of-a-kind gifts to satisfy that need to buy cutesy baby items—and the need is a strong one. Sizes range from newborn to age five, and the clothing comes in the most darling of prints and motifs. What I can't stop thinking about: Shark- and octopus-emblazoned water gear for this summer's beach boys.

HOT MAMA means business when it comes to super stylish pieces that take an outfit from cute to coveted. Load up on accessories including trendy hats, dazzling jewelry, and shoes. Looks range from rocker in training and summer concert hippie to glam goddess and nautical beauty. What I can't stop thinking about: How walking into the store seems like a fashion mag come to life and the super friendly and fashion forward staff.

CAROL ROEDA STUDIO features hand-painted embellishments that adorn everything from walls to picture frames with the simple click of a magnet. With her creative and whimsical magnets, you could easily switch adornments for the season and holidays. Check out the home accessories here, as well. What I can't stop thinking about: The itsy-bitsy Gypsy Garden miniature garden collection that's an obsession in the making.

JB AND ME might be the prettiest store to wander around in. Dress yourself in designer brands such as Free People, Ella Moss, and Splendid. I was mesmerized by candy-inspired necklaces, floral tennis shoes, tote bags, fringe purses, tons of color pops, and the store's smattering of vintage décor for purchase. What I can't stop thinking about: The gilded, gold-glitter bow Ipanema flip-flops that scream "summer's in session." I actually own a pair. They never leave my feet.
